Bio

Mike Schadek grew up as the youngest of six children in Mansfield, Ohio. His father worked at GM and his mother stayed at home raising the family. Hard work, compassion for others and dedication to the community were guiding principles for the Schadek family.

Mike received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame. While a student, he worked on campus to help pay college expenses. As a political science major, he served as a special intern with Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Cape Town, South Africa. This experience profoundly changed his life and planted the seeds for future public service. After obtaining his law degree at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Mike and his wife launched three successful businesses in California and Columbus. He currently is a Long Term Care specialist and helps families protect themselves from the emotional and financial risks associated with nursing home care.

Mike was elected to the Upper Arlington City Council in 2011, and has helped to expand economic development while balancing a budget with no income tax increase or cuts in service. Responsive representation and a willingness to listen to residents has always been Mike’s focus.

Mike has been married to his high school sweetheart, Debbie Schadek, for 21 years. They have a son, Jack, who is a Freshman at Upper Arlington High School and a son, Sam, who is in seventh grade at Jones Middle School. Their daughter Macy is in Heaven.
